Bono Trattoria

Spacious dining area, high ceilings, white walls, an abundance of natural lighting, brick oven pizza, and house-made pasta.  This is in Harlem so no need to whip out your Metro card to head downtown.  On several occasions, I have seen my fellow foodie friend, Chris, dining here so I decided I needed to check it out.  The owners' roots are from the Italian regions of Sicily and Umbria, which means no half-stepping on the quality or preparation of the food.  One of the holy grails for most foodies, Eater, has stated they are worth the trek to Harlem for the Margherita Pie.

The consistency of their pizza crust and fresh ingredients are two things I care the most about when grabbing a pizza (and the reason why I never been a huge dollar slice fan).  It had the perfect amount of crunch on the outside but within still airy and didn't taste dry.  The spicy sausage on top of the Calabrese pie along with the fresh mozzarella and basil didn't stand a chance.  I ate the whole pie by myself and did not regret it, nor feel a need share with ANYONE.  You can seriously ask my husband because there was no sharing involved during this dining experience.

The menu is diverse and includes 16 different specialty pizzas, grilled octopus, rib-eye steak, sea bass filet, and more.  Their dessert menu is pretty dangerous and includes buttermilk panna cotta, red velvet cheesecake, tiramisu (my personal favorite) just to name a few.  They have a happy hour Monday through Thursday from 4 pm - 7 pm for all my wine lovers.  If you are looking for a place to enjoy a dinner and actually be able to hear the company you came with and mellow vibes then Bono Trattoria should be added to your list.
