Perch: East Harlem's Newest Cocktail Bar Destination

On July 21st a NEW cocktail bar will be added to the list of must-visit establishments in East Harlem. Perch is a 25 seat elevated cocktail bar offering small plates to complement their creative signature cocktails. Not only are they delivering a great drink program but they also have a standout food menu that prides itself in utilizing local produce from places such as the Union Square Farmers Market. I had the hard task of trying the majority of the cocktails and providing feedback and I am happy to report the feedback was positive and I am planning my next trip back soon!

The masterminds behind this new cocktail bars are the duo that brought you the neighborhood's favorite East Harlem Bottling Company. The opening of Perch was delayed by the pandemic that caused the hospitality industry to take an unexpected pause. Although their vision was delayed upon opening they spared no detail. The serving plates were created by a local Brooklyn artist, the strikingly detailed wallpaper is perfectly positioned so that it aligns PERFECTLY with the lighting fixtures, and the bar has a perfect gloss finish.

The cocktail program included several items that left me speechless as I saw the building of the cocktails and tasting the unique combinations of flavors. On the menu, they have one called Farmer’s Market where it changes based upon what is available at the farmers market. The one I was presented on that particular evening was a vodka-based cocktail that I could taste the bell pepper, raspberry as a garnish, and a dash of Trini Hot Pepper Sauce. HELLO! As a gin lover, I also enjoyed the Poolside Crush which included tequila, cucumber, and grapefruit amongst other ingredients.

And course the food! Would I be a food blogger without mentioning the small plate offerings? The oysters were incredibly fresh, the croquettes were so great I don’t recommend sharing (LOL), and I experienced eating a whole fish for the first time. The fish offering was a while Porgy sitting on a bed of farro and topped with salsa verde which I HIGHLY recommend.

I enjoyed my time at Perch and I hope you make this NEW East Harlem establishment a destination.
