Chez Omar is a newer addition to New York City's dining scene, conceptualized and led by Chef Omar Walters, who previously brought us Omar's Kitchen. This vibrant French-Caribbean bistro blends classic French cuisine with Jamaican influences, showcasing the rich flavors of the Caribbean in a unique culinary experience.

One of the newest restaurants and cocktail bars in Harlem now offers brunch and has quickly become my go-to spot because of the delicious menu (especially the French toast), great music selection, and perfectly crafted brunch cocktails.

Mister Leroys* | Harlem | Bistro
The owner of Sexy Taco and Ruby's Vintage now offers a new concept featuring a variety of pasta dishes alongside their bottomless brunch menu.

VeganHood* | Harlem | Vegan Soul Food
Located on Restaurant Row, this Black women-owned restaurant is called the “Home of the Vegan Oxtail and Best Vegan Fried Chicken” and offers bottomless as well.

Vinateria | Harlem | Seasonal Spanish and Italian Cuisine
Located on Restaurant Row, this restaurant offers some of the best wine selections in Harlem to compliment any item on its brunch menu.

Melba’s | Harlem | American Comfort
Owner Melba was born, bred, and buttered in Harlem and attracts some high-profile patrons such as Prince Harry and Megan Markle. She has beat Bobby Flay with her chicken and waffles recipe with strawberry butter.

My neighborhood bar is located near historic Striver’s Row, and you can typically find me ordering frose, a breakfast burrito, and deviled eggs.

The Edge | Harlem | Caribbean
It is owned by two sisters who are native New Yorkers who pay homage to their Jamaican and British heritage through the food offerings.

Ponty Bistro & Renaissance* | Harlem | West African
Owned by Chef Cisse, these two restaurants located on 7th Avenue have drawn patrons as the menu has a West African-inspired menu and French flair with influence from Senegal, which was once home to the chef and owner.

Created by restauranteur Leon Ellis, Chocolat has been serving patrons since 2010 on the section of 8th Avenue dubbed Restaurant Row. Their red velvet pancakes are one of their most popular menu items.

You cannot mention soul food and Harlem in the same sentence without mentioning the legendary Sylvia’s. Since 1962, Sylvia’s has been a meeting place for many celebrities, presidents, and iconic public figures.

Previously known as B Squared, this Harlem establishment is known for its carefully sourced seafood selection and now offers brunch ALL DAY!

Red Rooster | Harlem | American
Owned by celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson, this has become a destination for many who visit NYC. Some of my personal favorites include their chicken & waffles and mac & greens.

Harlem Hookah* | Harlem | American
This Black woman-owned hookah lounge offers craft cocktails and a brunch menu with ample indoor and outdoor seating.

Negril Village | Greenwich Village | Caribbean
Since 2002, this Caribbean restaurant has been known for good vibes and even better food, such as Banana Foster French toast, Oxtail hash, and more. They are currently BYOB.

Lagos* | Times Square | West African
One of the newest additions to one of the busiest intersections in the world is a tri-level restaurant offering dishes such as peppered snails and oxtail and an extensive specialty cocktail menu.


Hollybrook Lane | Southern Comfort | Upper East Side
Hollybrook Lane, a newcomer to New York City's dining scene, offers a menu that features Southern comfort food with a modern twist, including dishes like Blackened Chicken and Steak Frites. The restaurant emphasizes community and hospitality, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests to enjoy craft cocktails and curated music.

Brooklyn’s newest Black-owned restaurant is becoming increasingly popular with the community, and some of the most popular items include stuffed French toast, oxtails, pasta, and cornbread.

Brooklyn Beso | Bed-Stuy | Pan Latin & Caribbean
This Bed-Stuy offers a heated patio and a brunch menu that includes Tres Leche French toast, lobster & grits, and some classics such as red velvet waffles.

Kokomo* | Williamsburg | Caribbean
One of the newer Black-owned restaurants in Brooklyn, Kokomo serves the contemporary Caribbean, such as rasta pasta flatbread, and is the perfect place for a holiday weekend turn-up with live DJs.

Negril BK | Park Slope | Caribbean
Negril offers an all-day Sunday brunch and a DJ from 2-6 pm, so there are no Sunday scaries here. On their brunch menu, you can find mimosa towers, porridge, and Creole lobster shrimp & grits.

Peaches | Multiple Locations in BK | American Comfort
You can have it all from St. Louis style baby back ribs, grits, and catfish at Peaches.

Bunna Cafe | Bushwick | Ethiopian
Bunna Cafe offers a planted-based brunch menu and a variety of crafted cocktails.

Soco offers all-day brunch on Sundays and with mimosa specials, and my menu favorites include lobster & shrimp grits, strawberry shortcake French toast, and jambalaya.

Nostrand Station Bar & Lounge* | Crown Heights | American
This recent newcomer to the dining scene offers a bottomless brunch that includes something for everyone at your party and a plethora of frozen drinks.

BK9* | Park Slope | Caribbean
Banana rum coconut waffles, Caribbean Benedict, and tropical-flavored mimosas are what you will find on this restaurant’s menu.

Sweet Science* | Bushwick | American
This neighborhood bar won me with shrimp and grits, music selection, and bottomless specials.

Sugarcane | Park Slope | Caribbean
This Park Slope business is easily accessible as it is located on Flatbush and close to Barclays, and I highly recommend calling ahead to secure reservations.

This is a spot where the whole bar sings along and has a good time. This woman-owned bar offers a bottomless brunch special, and the menu has items such as catfish, shrimp & grits, and banana bourbon French toast.

iNine Bistro* | Mott Haven | International Fusion
This family-owned business is located in the Mott Haven neighborhood of South Bronx and has a large head outdoor patio section. The salmon burger and fried shrimp are my go-tos on their menu.

Queens

Cheers | Rosedale | New Caribbean
It offers modern Caribbean fare and brunch prix-fixes, which include bubbles and dishes such as jerk steak skewers, oxtail, and pasta entrees. A chic cocktail lounge called The Rum Room is located downstairs.
