[Sponsored] Raising the Bar: Harlem Standard

This is a sponsored post for Harlem Standard, but the opinions expressed in this post are based on my personal views.

Harlem Standard is the newest spirit brand out of the historic neighborhood of Harlem that embodies the rich history and spirit of Uptown. This local brand utilizes distilling and blending techniques from earlier prohibition days while using quality ingredients and paying homage to the music that filled the streets during the Harlem Renaissance. Imagine living or visiting in a neighborhood that was a part of the time that affected music, literature, arts, and more. Harlem has continued to set and raised the bar, and now Harlem Standard is doing the same in the world of spirits.

I refer to myself as an aspiring bourbon whiskey lover because I am at the stage where I enjoy it in a cocktail—but slowly working myself up to neat status. In this blog post, I want to share more about the Harlem Standard brand, its current offerings, and a couple of cocktails I have made at home that is perfect for these upcoming summer months.

Harlem Standard was founded in 2020 and immediately knew the brand would have ties to music. A portion of the proceeds from every bottle goes to The Jazz Foundation of America's COVID-19 Muscians' Emergency Fund. Harlem Standard has curated a Spotify playlist, so as you raise your glass, you are in the company of some of the most timeless music.

Harlem Standard currently offers the following:

All of their current offerings are 100% vegan and pro-farmers. Their two top sellers at this time are Straight Bourbon Whiskey|93-Proof and American Straight Whiskey|90-Proof. After giving Harlem Standard a try, my top choice is the Harlem Standard Straight Bourbon Whiskey for when I am sipping it neat because of its smoothness due to its vanilla bean finish. I preferred Harlem Standard Straight American Whiskey for my cocktails, aged over three years and has notes of honey maple and citrus.

Something unique about each bottle is the artwork this etched onto or printed on their label. On the Harlem Standard Straight American Whiskey bottle, you will see a jazz singer at a lounge, and on the Harlem Standard’s 7-Year American Straight Whiskey bottle, it appears as a poker met with some good ol' whiskey.

Harlem Standard is currently available for sale via their website and at some of your favorite NYC dining establishments such as Central Park Boathouse, Settepani in Harlem, Cipriani, and Emilio's Ballato. Keep your eye's peeled to Harlem Standard's Instagram for new locations and updates.

The brand's website not only shares their story, allows you to purchase their bourbon whiskey but includes and an extensive list of cocktails that are EASY to make at home. Check out some that I recently made at home that are Dom Approved!
