Authentic Mexican at Chavela’s in Brooklyn

Chavelas Brooklyn NYC Mexican.jpg

Finding great Mexican food in Brooklyn doesn’t have to be hard if you are looking in the right places (or got a friend named, Dom).  Franklin Ave is a sea of restaurants in Crown Heights but Chavela's does a great job of standing out with authentic Mexican food, excellent service, and ample outdoor seating which is a plus in any New Yorker's book. Chavela’s is the type of place you can bring your friends, have a chill brunch, a date, or place to take the parental units when they are in town visiting. Regardless of the company you bring they will enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful and rustic restaurant.

Chavela’s has lunch specials Monday through Friday from 11 am - 4 pm and includes a great variety of dishes for only $9.95. Once lunch is over they then roll over into happy hour that goes from 4 pm - 7 pm and it includes tacos and margaritas for some great prices. Their brunch specials are capped at $13.95 and offer budget-friendly brunch cocktails and one of the reasons they ended up on my Top 10: Brunch In Brooklyn list.  The star of their cocktail menu is Campechana which is half sangria and half margarita and probably everyone’s favorite who frequents here.

Top Picks:

  • Huevos Rancheros

  • Churros

  • Queso Fundido
